Metropolitan Network
Implementing a modern metropolitan optical network can be complicated and challenging. Long Haul Network
Long haul networks carry huge loads of information between cities, through mountains, and from coast to coast, creating challenges to keep the signal clear and the loss minimal. Finding the most appropriate fibers that combine the lowest dispersion and smallest dispersion slope is crucial for signals to travel over
long distances with minimum need for costly dispersion compensation. OFS makes this easy by offering outstanding optical fibers and cables especially designed for this application.
Central Office
OFS is ready to help solve the bottleneck in central offices, or wire centers, with exceptional cables and connectivity products. The existing installations usually have fiber distribution networks that were installed to support only high-capacity interoffice traffic, with much of the fiber feeder applications (digital loop carrier) having only been deployed over the last few years. Since in many cases fiber growth for most offices has been greatly underestimated, the forecasted growth for fiber in the loop applications over the next 10 years is likely to place an immense strain on the management of the fiber networks within the wire centers.

EZ-Bend™ Optical Technology
Drop cables featuring EZ-Bend Optical Technology can be bent to 5 mm radius and be stapled, with negligible signal loss and no degradation in picture quality, offering reliable support for FTTX applications, including high-definition television (HDTV), on-demand video, ultra high speed data, voice, online gaming and many other revenue-generating services. EZ-Bend Optical Technology supports multiple dwelling unit (MDU) and in-home wiring applications.

OptiCost™ Modeling Services
The OptiCost™ FTTX Models used to provide this service include guidelines for selecting solutions for single-family residences (SFR) and multi-dwelling units (MDU), as well as charts for splitter location and multiple cabinet planning. They analyze a series of factors or “dynamics” that are unique to each provider, and show the costs and attributes of different optical distribution designs for each configuration, that then can be compared to help find a cost-effective solution.
