We currently seek a Test Engineer to join our division located in Avon, CT, and help support our continued business growth.
The Test Engineer position is responsible for the design and development of test methods for a variety of new fiber optic sensors working with the product development team. Applicant must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within a collaborative environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Include, but are not limited to:
Perform sensor characterization for the development team and customers, summarizing the data by writing reports
Participate in New Product Development (NPD) team projects during appropriate phases of project and/or program management
Communicate and meet with customers to develop new applications for fiber based sensors and sensor systems
Some travel will be necessary to understand the customer’s requirements
Aide in transitioning products from R&D into pilot
Work with designers in defining appropriate fiber and cable qualification tests.
Perform other related duties as required by management
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required
5 years or more experience in a technical field is preferred
Background in optics, fiber optics and lasers required (LEDs, diode light source)
Mechanical/hands on aptitude, able to build test setups
Strong report writing and presentation skills
Must be able to work independently, scheduling and accomplishing results in an effective and timely manner
Must be self-motivated with the desire to succeed
Proficient math and statistical skills
Strong customer communication skills
Software programming skills are a plus
Experience in, or willingness to learn, Labview for equipment automation
Familiarity with ISO practices desired
