Production Scheduler – Carrollton, GA

OFS Fitel LLC, a global manufacturer of fiber optics fiber, cable, and connectivity products has an opportunity available for Production Scheduler in our Connectivity Products Division at our facility in Carrollton, Georgia, approximately 50 miles west of Atlanta.

Job Summary

The Production Scheduler is responsible for developing and maintaining line level scheduling based on actual order receipts and forecast, while optimizing all manufacturing output and efficiencies, and meeting all Division goals.  Must effectively communicate with all organizations status of orders both stock and production, and recommend and coordinate all production line changes based on production, performance and product mix deviations.  Responsible for utilization of all excess inventories and surplus parts created during production. The Production Scheduler maintains a good working knowledge of all production processes and systems.

Major Duties
  • Scheduling
    • Maintains accurate records and traceability of orders
    • Balances all weekly demands against capacity constraints, which include operation capacities. Communicate with floor via WIP, order tracking expedites, confirmation of orders, expedites, and change of order status due to material shortages or missed ship dates
    • Creates and maintains daily WIP reports for both production and stock orders as well as the material shortage log
  • Production Order Tracking
  • Track orders on the Production floor to ensure timely delivery to the customer, and communicate to appropriate parties any issue that may impede timely deliveries
  • The applicant performs COGI (processing goods movements with errors) function on a daily basis and participates in daily Gemba(LMS)  meetings
  • Picklist (BOM), Routing, Term Sheet, and Discrete Job Creation
Responsible for all order instructions needed to make an order manufacturing ready.  This includes order release; order termination, printing pick lists, routings term sheets and order confirmation.  This information must be timely, accurate and consistent.
  • Communication
  • Responsible for order level communication between departments.  This includes daily/weekly meetings with Manufacturing, Engineering, Product Management, Purchasing, Warehouse, Shipping and Customer Service. 
  • The Scheduler will be responsible for acting as a liaison between different departments to resolve order issues.   This will also include product deviations and nonconformance requests.
  • Lean and Six Sigma Team Member
    • Actively participate in A3 (SGA) projects and all Lean and Kaizen initiatives.
  • Safety Team Member
Actively participate in Safety work reviews and projects as required. 
  • Miscellaneous
    • As required will be called upon to complete special projects such as analysis of backlog, workload, process/procedural improvements, missed shipments, and what if scenarios, etc.  The applicant must be willing to perform other miscellaneous task/duties such as; assisting packing and shipping in processing late orders at the end of shift, assisting with movement of cord, cable or parts to the manufacturing lines, carrying orders to shipping and keeping work area clean.
Job Qualifications
  • SAP experience- minimum of 2 years’ experience in a production environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications of Excel and Word (skill level intermediate)
  • Prior  connectivity product knowledge
  • Warehouse/Shipping/Receiving Experience
  • Good oral and written communication skills are essential
  • The applicant will be required to pay close attention to detail, with the ability to solve problems and process large amounts of data into useful scheduling information
  • The applicant must possess a sense of urgency, diplomacy and ability to work well with all levels of the organization 
  • Must be able to work flexible hours to accommodate surges in order input
