Job Summary
As a leader in optical innovations, we are searching for a Manufacturing/Process Engineer located at our facility in Somerset, NJ. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the manufacturing of existing optical gain solutions—such as high-power laser cavities, beam combiners, pump combiners and other fiber-laser based components, as well as participating in the development new products. This person will be responsible to drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities include;
Analyze and improve current production processes (both technical repair and support sides of the operation) using engineering tools, and Lean Six Sigma practices
Help move prototypes toward products through the use of the New Product Development stage gate process
Plan and launch production processes for newly developed products
Provide support to production operations in the areas of equipment, layout, tooling, fixture design, and machinery
Prepare work instructions, routing and Bills of Materials in MRP system
Assist in the maintenance of quality control standards, ISO 9001, and corrective actions
Responsible for planning, project management, purchasing, installing, etc. of production equipment
Key Qualifications Include
BS or MS degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
3+ years similar experience in high-tech manufacturing or process engineering
Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills
Experience in fiber optics/photonics a plus
Demonstrated problem solving skills using Six Sigma and Lean tools. Certification a plus
CAD CAD/CAM experience. SolidWorks preferred
