Job Summary

As a leader in optical innovations, we are searching for a Manufacturing/Process Engineer located at our facility in Somerset, NJ.  The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the manufacturing of existing optical gain solutions—such as high-power laser cavities, beam combiners, pump combiners and other fiber-laser based components, as well as participating in the development new products. This person will be responsible to drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities include;

  • Analyze and improve current production processes (both technical repair and support sides of the operation) using engineering tools, and Lean Six Sigma practices
  • Optimize product flow, reduce variation, improve quality, and implement cost reductions
  • Help move prototypes toward products through the use of the New Product Development stage gate process
  • Plan and launch production processes for newly developed products
  • Provide support to production operations in the areas of equipment, layout, tooling, fixture design, and machinery
  • Prepare work instructions, routing and Bills of Materials in MRP system
  • Assist in the maintenance of quality control standards, ISO 9001, and corrective actions
  • Responsible for planning, project management, purchasing, installing, etc. of production equipment

Key Qualifications Include

  • BS or MS degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
  • 3+ years similar experience in high-tech manufacturing or process engineering
  • Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills
  • Experience in fiber optics/photonics a plus
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills using Six Sigma and Lean tools. Certification a plus
  • CAD CAD/CAM experience. SolidWorks preferred
