OFS Fitel, LLC, a leading manufacturer of optical fiber, fiber cable, and connectivity components for our customer’s optical infrastructure, has an immediate position available for a Network Architect in our Systems and Technology Strategy organization.
Job Summary
The successful candidate will:
Support Sales by developing and maintaining relationships with thought leaders at key North American target cable and connectivity accounts. As a system and technology champion for a designated account, the candidate will assist Sales in devising and executing an account strategy, represent the value of OFS products to thought leaders at the customer, and gain mindshare with key decision makers by “speaking their language” using his/her experience as a consumer of network products
Improve OFS’ positioning of cable products in North America by reviewing OFS sales and marketing approach with the eyes of a user of network products
Support PLM and R&D by helping interpret and understand trends in the market and technology, evaluate value propositions for proposed new products, and generate new product ideas
Share best practices on value proposition development between fiber/cable/connectivity and specialty photonics product lines
Track and document systems and technology trends in a disciplined fashion to build the learning organization inside OFS, as part of a cross-functional team
Qualifications
M.S. or Ph.D. in optics, electrical engineering, physics or related discipline
Minimum ten (10) years’ engineering experience at a network operator/carrier is required
Extensive knowledge of architecture of fiber networks, especially metro networks supporting wireless front/backhaul and enterprise access
Experience selecting and deploying cable and connectivity solutions from a carrier prospective
Broad knowledge of existing technologies in the fiber, cable and connectivity space
Deep contacts in the communications technology industry, including end-users and suppliers
Collaborative, “open source” work style, with willingness to share information freely between colleagues
Name recognition and ability to command respect at OFC, ECOC, and other fiber optic industry forums
