OFS is proud to introduce AccuRoll Rollable Ribbon fiber to the home (FTTH) cabling, the next generation of fiber plant network evolution.

AccuRoll® fiber optic cabling simplifies network deployment by enabling a service provider to use a single type of optical cable for all commonly used fiber counts, compared to the traditional use of ribbon cables for higher fiber counts, and loose tube cables for lower fiber counts. Due to manufacturing economies of scale, OFS rollable ribbon cables are now price competitive with its traditional loose tube cables throughout the entire network for high and low fiber counts.

Additionally, AccuRoll fiber optic cabling can reduce splicing time, enable smaller handholes, closures and ducts, and lower transportation costs and the associated carbon footprint for outside plant networks. AccuRoll fiber optic cabling is available in fiber counts from 864 down to 12 for middle mile, metro and FTTH networks, in aerial (lashed and self-supporting) and underground (armored or dielectric) installations, with OFS AllWave® + ZWP Full Spectrum optical fiber. Complementing this solutions is the FITEL® S-124X mass fusion splice machine, optimized to efficiently splice OFS rollable and flat ribbon cables with ease of use and uniformly low insertion losses.

Rollable ribbon has evolved from supporting high fiber count data center interconnect applications, to middle mile and metro networks, and now the full OSP network including FTTH.

This AccuRoll Rollable Ribbon cabling milestone can bring multiple benefits to network operators:

  • Faster Installation – Rollable ribbons can be quickly mass-fusion spliced, reducing splicing time and cost by 50% or more compared to single fiber splicing.
  • Easier Installation – Rollable ribbon fibers are easily identified and separated for single-fiber splicing, for easier drop cable splicing or if mass fusion equipment is not available.
  • Cost savings – Smaller diameter than most comparable GR-20 compliant loose tube or flat ribbon cables. enabling use of smaller ducts, handholes and closures, and easier permitting. Lower shipping costs and carbon footprint from lighter weight, less materials.
  • Simplified Inventory and Training – One cable type can be used across the network.
  • Reliable performance – Carrier grade GR-20 compliant, in widespread use across North America by tier 1/2/3 service providers, utilities, and dark fiber providers.
  • Manufactured in the USA, and available BABA for BEAD compliant.
